Me No Engrish
I was contemplating my job outlook for the future so I decided to research more into engineering science. What made me interested in engineering science as opposed to more traditional engineering disciplines is the idea of DOING SOME REAL ENGINEERING instead of some plugga muchuga when designing energy generation systems. In fact, energy generation is one of the reasons why I chose to specialize my studies in energy field of mechanical engineering.
However, one of the things I never bothered looking into was what wiki had to say about engineering science. I've taken courses in quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, and other classes usually not taken in bachelors of mechanical engineering degree programs. Long story short, I specialize in more than 1 area of specialization in that list provided. But, I do not have any confidence in my employment prospect as an engineer (my degree is a B.S. degree ).
I can design circuits, control systems, etc. But, I think my biggest weakness is my communication skills. I can speak confidently when I know everything there is to know about a system and am willing to put in whatever work needs to be done (even if I'm not expected to put in the extra effort) to complete a task I'm passionate about. However, I fear at times that I may come across as an arrogant know it all and I don't think anyone would want to hire such an individual (I know there are things that I don't know and I don't pretend to know everything). This thereby causes me to REALLY take my time to think before I speak and I end up responding slowly at times. It's the idea of relaying information from A to B with as little error as possible which I find to be difficult if say I only know how to speak in technical to someone who isn't really familiar to the field.
My degree more or less allows for me to take jobs in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and/or computer science (I know C++, Java, HTML, Machine/Assembly, LabVIEW, MATLAB, SolidWorks, some CAD, etc.) because I have the skills needed to take entry level jobs in those fields. However, I don't know anyone. I try to socialize and develop a network, but I doubt knowing finance/account/business/non-engineering major individuals would actually help me. I especially doubt the girls I've met/dated are engineering majors (you can tell because their cutesy behavior doesn't allow for them to last long). I respect the female engineers because they work hard for their grades and understanding the analysis of systems to get what they want, but I've never met one who acted "cute" - I want to use retarded, but I don't want to admit to having dated retards. To get back on topic, I feel at times that I know a little bit of everything and a lot of nothing. This spring term, I managed to design and create a real infrared control system using a PIC18F452 microcontroller - ah fuck it you don't need to know how my partner fucked me up and left me to do all the work by myself.
Where was I going with this? Ah yes: http://www.studentsreview.com/salary_by_major.php3 - notice how there's nothing there on engineering science. Also, on: http://colleges.findthebest.com/directory/o/Engineering%2C-General - The college I attend is said to offer on general engineering bachelors when it's site states that it offers a BS in engineering science: http://www.csi.cuny.edu/catalog/undergraduate/undergradctlg.php4?info_tag=offerings_engineering_science
My friend Syed showed me his degree and it said B.S. of Engineering Science or something like that. The program is also accredited by EAC/ABET: http://www.apsc.csi.cuny.edu/csiengdp/curstpgs/faq/faq.html
Oh yeah, did I also mention I'm the secretary of the ASME in my campus? BTW, one of my first tasks was to figure out how much of our funds do we want to spend on vodka. I also wanted to SHUT THIS SITE DOWN: http://www.apsc.csi.cuny.edu/csiengdp/curstpgs/asmepage/events.html . But, yeah, it'll really suck if I end up in a non-engineering job after college like I am now (a teacher is still respectable, no?).
Sorry if I'm ranting here, it's just... I feel like facepalming myself at times.

I found this to be pretty cool: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfR6tiSW-AM&feature=player_embedded#at=975
Usage of motors and sensors as well as calculating the kinematics for structural stability/balance - I've down these things separately, but never really combined them in a design. Should I try to focus my last year into robotics? I've only studied like "the basics" of it.

For all those of you virgin cherry school boys who've yet applied to enter any degree program in a college, you should watch this before even considering engineering science.
See this as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3s8hWgOeAs&feature=related

Your major is better than N-Psi:
Hitler in Engineering Science
Hitler plans for his exams
The first and second year as an Engineering Science major wasn't as bad as the first year at LIU majoring in criminal justice. It materials studied became more and more harder to understand so I just went back to the basics and instead of memorizing all those equations, I just memorized that which they derived from and apply that to the system I'm dealing with. Like with fluid mechanics, I just memorize P=FxR*w=d(1/2Iw^2)/dt=d(1/2mV^2)/dt=IV=etc (basically derivative of work with respect to time). and shear stress = udU/dy, then just compute it for like an arbitrary system involving rotation when given power, dimensions, and viscosity or whatever. But, this third year has been killing me with quantum and shit.
These lectures: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzhlfbWBuQ8&feature=relmfu - Are fucking useless.

I'm glad I transferred out of LIU. After I realized how the U.S. "state and local judicial system worked", I figured a bachelors degree in criminal justice from LIU just wasn't worth the 16k especially since I worked my ass off for that 16k scholarship.

I blame TT for my lack of computation speed. Neglecting that, my IQ is about 131.
